Tuscaloosa authorities have arrested an Indiana couple who fled with their three toddlers after losing custody of the children.
23-year-old Michael Lovely and his wife, Haley, left Indiana two months ago. Their children, all under the age of three, had been placed in the custody of their Indiana grandmother after Michael Lovely was accused of beating them.
Authorities in Georgia were searching for the couple on Monday. They had apparently lived in the state for a time. Authorities said they didn't even know the family was there until the couple were evicted from their home and allegedly stole a neighbor's car. Another neighbor reported checks missing, and authorities say some of those were forged by Haley Lovely.
Deputies in Tuscaloosa spotted the stolen vehicle this afternoon and arrested the couple. Sheriff Ted Sexton says the children were placed in protective custody.
