Helicopter Crash

Fort Rucker safety officials are trying to figure out what caused the second helicopter in a week to crash.

Around 8:30 yesterday morning, an Army AH64D Apache went down in Northeast Coffee County.

In a Fort Rucker news release officials say the 21-million dollar helicopter sustained considerable damage during a hard landing.

Both crew members were flown to an area hospital for observation and released with no serious injuries.

The chopper went down on Ray Johnson’s property. He didn't hear the crash, but he says that Rucker helicopters often use the land for training purposes.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
