After several months of a vacant Houston County District One commission seat, a winner has finally been named.
Democratic candidate Curtis Harvey pulled ahead in the polls last night with over two hundred votes.
He won with 1,183, to Republican Bobby Clemens' 953 votes.
This is the third race that the Harvey’s have had to prepare for and it seems last night, all their hard work paid off.
Wylie Yelverton left the district one commission seat in August.
Since then, Houston County’s District One commission seat has been empty.
Slow voter turnout in each election since has shed little hope for filling the position.
But, last night’s count nearly doubled that of the run-off election in November.
Curtis has been told he will take office next Tuesday on January 18th, the day the commission meets.
