The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is looking into allegations of bribery in Midland City’s police department.
Police Chief Dexter Hammond confirmed one of his officers has been suspended for allegedly accepting bribes.
He says town officials asked the ABI to conduct an independent investigation.
Chief Hammond says the officer in question is on administrative leave with pay and he hopes the investigation will be completed by the end of next week.
