A teen who was hit by a drunk driver in Panama City two years ago has been awarded $5.6 million from the Dothan car dealership that owned the car.
The settlement represents the maximum amount Rahal Buick’s insurance would pay.
Seventeen-year-old Casey Whitson remains unable to communicate or even move much at all following the accident.
He was run down by a Ford Mustang while trying to cross the road from the beach to his hotel in March of 2003.
The driver, then 22-year-old Kathryn Duggan of Dothan was driving a car that her boyfriend, an employee of Rahal Buick, had borrowed.
Whitson’s family says they'll use the settlement to pay for the teen’s care. All expenditures must be approved by the court.
