Security personnel and Dothan Police have broken up what appears to be a major theft ring operating in at least two states.
Only two people were initially taken into custody after security officers became suspicious late Tuesday afternoon.
Dothan Police were notified and eventually, ten people were arrested including a juvenile.
All of the suspects are from the Montgomery area.
Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise were recovered.
Police say the goods had apparently been obtained from stores in Columbus, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama.
The suspects were attempting to exchange the items for gift cards and credit at stores in Dothan.
Investigators say at least a dozen businesses were victimized.
The investigation is continuing.
