Blackhawk Helicopter Crash

Fort Rucker personnel say an instructor pilot and two students are "lucky" to be alive.

Just after midnight yesterday (Tuesday) an 0-60 Blackhawk Helicopter crashed in rural Geneva County. The craft went down in a cow pasture in the Bellwood Community.

At the time, it was being used for night vision goggle instructor training. All three crew members were flown from the scene and transported to an area hospital for observation.

Just prior to the crash, the Blackhawk reportedly clipped a communication tower and several power lines.

Army safety officials say the crash is under investigation.

The 0-60 Blackhawk costs around five-million dollars.
