High Speed Chase

A man is dead after leading police on a high speed chase.

Dothan Police say a man held three Dothan residents at gunpoint for more than four hours before leading officers on a high-speed chase and shooting himself.

It all started yesterday (Tuesday) morning around 11 o'clock during a home-invasion robbery at a trailer park off East Main Street.

Two men and a woman told investigators the suspect used drugs and sexually assaulted the woman before stealing one of their vehicles around 4:00 pm.

The victims called for help.

Houston County Deputies and Dothan Police quickly spotted the suspect and chased him down.

The suspect blew a tire and ran off Prevatt Road about a half mile from Hidden Lake Elementary School. Officers surrounded the vehicle and the man shot himself in the head. He later died at a Dothan hospital.

Police say the victims did not know the suspect.

He’s a white male in his 20's and he has been identified, but his name is being with-held pending notification of relatives.
