Known for a high-flying, lavish lifestyle that included everything from a Rolls-Royce to fronting his own country band, fired HealthSouth Corporation C-E-O Richard Scrushy goes on trial this week in what prosecutors say was a conspiracy to get even richer by overstating profits of the rehabilitation giant by some 2.6 billion dollars.
Jury selection in Scrushy's federal trial is set to begin on Wednesday. Then on January 13th, lawyers will pick a jury of 12 members and six alternates. Birmingham Federal Judge Karon Bowdre set opening
statements for January 18th.
Potential jurors likely won't be excluded just for being familiar with the case or knowing someone who works for HealthSouth.
