Enterprise ISO Rating

Updated: Wed 10:44 AM, Oct 23, 2002

Recently, Enterprise received word its fire department is classified as one of Alabama's best.

Enterprise homeowner Gail Harper changed insurance companies to get a lower homeowner's rate.

This week, that rate may drop even further. The insurance service office has reclassified Enterprise's fire protection from a five to a three, an improvement used by the insurance industry to set its price structure.

Up until this week, the city's ISO rating hadn't improved since 1981.

Fire Chief Byron Herring oversees three stations and a staff of 36. Herring said the improved rating is partly do to the increased water capacity of the city.

Only two percent of all Alabama fire departments have an insurance rating as good as Enterprise’s rating.
