In Elmore County, Alabama, a 26-year-old mother is in jail facing attempted murder charges after allegedly placing her infant daughter in a hot oven at their mobile home in Coosada, which is just north of Montgomery.
Melissa Belle Wright's 14-month-old daughter, Ashley Sims, spent time in a Montgomery Hospital Tuesday night after suffering burns when placed in the oven.
The infant was transferred to Birmingham's Children's Hospital and is listed in guarded condition.
Ashley was burned over 17 percent of her body.
