Drunk Driving

Terry Lynch got into the pickup truck in front of the Statehouse and attempted to start the ignition. Nothing happened. Then he breathed and hummed into a tube coming out from a device under the dash, the device determined Lynch had not been drinking, and the truck started.

Representative Priscilla Dunn of Bessemer has introduced a bill that would allow judges to require some drivers previously convicted of driving under the influence to only drive vehicles equipped with such a device.

Several members of the Alabama Federation of Democratic Women
joined Dunn for a news conference to push for passage of the legislation.

Dunn says the device would give drunk drivers an obstacle to get around before they could again drink and drive.
