A murder suspect who has already been convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl goes on trial next month in Dothan.
Thirty-three-year-old Tony Evans was convicted on two counts of rape and one count of sexual abuse in December.
Those crimes were committed while Evans was free on bond for the murder he's being tried for now.
While in prison for burglary three years ago, a routine DNA test linked Evans to the 1998 stabbing death of Nacole Smith.
Evans faces up to life without parole for the sex crimes. He’s scheduled to be sentenced March 24 and his murder trial is set for March 7.
Evans is being held without bond in the Houston County Jail.
