This week, Samson officials received a Christmas present from Montgomery.
The state awarded a $225,000 dollar grant to the Geneva County town.
The money will be used to renovate the old National Guard Armory on Highway 52.
It will be converted into a community center.
The project will also involve building an auditorium, which will be used by the high school.
Right now, Samson High doesn't have one.
Samson Mayor Clay King says it will be "Used by the school for functions as an auditorium. We hope to have a youth basketball league here, and also it can be used by seniors for various program possibilities.”
The Samson City Council has committed $25,000 dollars in local funds in order to get the state grant.
