Utility bills may soon go up by a few dollars in one Wiregrass city.
The Samson City Council approved the measure this week in order to pay for a new garbage truck.
Each residential and business customer can expect to see the increase in their water bill.
Mayor Clay King says the price hike is necessary in order to avoid borrowing money for the truck.
Officials say the current truck is worn out and a new one is a priority in order for the city to continue picking up trash.
Even though the Samson council gave its approval for the two-dollar hike in the water bill, for it to be official the measure must be approved for a second time at the council's March meeting.
