A 24-hour truck stop will not be coming to Dothan, at least for now.
Dothan’s planning commission voted five to four, not to approve Flying J's development plans for the plaza on the corner of Ross Clark Circle and South Oates Street.
After two years of fighting and after meeting nearly 25 conditions of the planning commission, the truck stop lost the fight by the smallest of margins
The main issue at hand seemed to be traffic hazard at the site.
Dothan Mayor Chester Sowell publicly came out in opposition of these plans for the first time on Wednesday.
WTVY News 4 contacted Flying J and they had no comment.
