A man is behind bars in Northern Alabama facing charges for the Valentine’s Day murder of his wife.
Thirty-four-year-old Israel Ortiz is accused of putting the victim's body in his car trunk, then picking up her two brothers and driving around searching for her.
Police say Ortiz says he stabbed his estranged wife because she left him for another man and refused to take him back.
Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Maria Claudia Garcia.
Dekalb County officials say after Ortiz placed her body in the trunk of his car, he then drove around drinking.
Fort Payne Police discovered the body late Monday night.
