Deferred Prosecution Program

Houston and Henry Counties two-year-old Deferred Prosecution Program is becoming a model for several other Wiregrass counties including Coffee County.

Coffee and Pike County District Attorney Gary McAliley outlined his plans for the program at the Coffee County Commission Meeting.

McAliley says it's tailored for first time, non-violent offenders.

As a pre-trial intervention, the suspect makes restitution to the victim. In addition, they must undergo several requirements ordered by the court.

The Coffee County Commission unanimously passed a resolution Monday in support of the Prosecution Deferment Program.
