A Georgia judge has ordered a mother of seven who pleaded guilty to killing her five week old daughter to have a medical procedure that would prevent her from having more children.

Carisa Ashe was charged with murder and faced life in prison. But, after two days of trial, the 34-year-old pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say Destiny Ashe had been shaken and hit so badly her brain swelled and hemorrhaged. She died in December of 1998.

The judge says Ashe has 90 days to comply with the order or prosecutors can re-instate her murder charge.

Medicaid is covering the cost of the operation.
