Dozens of Dothan residents were at Wednesday’s City Planning Commission meeting to protest a new shopping center.

Developers want to build another complex next to the New Super Wal-Mart Center on Highway 231 North.

George and Sue Holland live just behind the new Wal-Mart. The Hollands said a new complex built between their property and the Wal-Mart will reduce their privacy and the value of their land.

There's a buffer of about 150 feet that separates the two properties. Developers want to reduce that to 50 feet and if they're not able to, they said a new project will not be financially feasible.

The Hollands said they just want to keep their privacy.

The commission voted to temporarily stop the new building project.

In the meantime, the developers are looking at alternate ways to build the new facility.
