Supreme Court Sets Execution Date

Death Penalty

The Alabama Supreme Court has set a Nov. 7 execution date for George Sibley, Jr. Sibley's common-law wife, Linda Lyon Block, was electrocuted in May.

They were both convicted of capital murder and sentenced to die for the 1993 shooting death of Opelika police officer Roger Motley, Jr. Motley was gunned down in a shopping center parking lot.

Sibley has no appeals pending and has no attorney of record. He is scheduled to die by lethal injection unless he opts for the electric chair, because Alabama's primary form of execution changed to lethal injection on July 1.
