One Wiregrass elected official is furious with law enforcement officers. Elba Councilman Mike McKee says the recent late-night serving of an arrest warrant almost resulted in tragedy.
It happened at a home on Coffee County Road 505 just after 11 p.m.
McKee says the suspect's father didn't realize there was an Elba policeman outside his house.
He was reportedly ready to pull out a gun on the officer.
The councilman says he believes police should serve warrants during the day.
But, Elba Police Chief Ronnie Whitworth says police work requires his officers to work at all hours of the day and night.
The chief adds that his officers do all they can to minimize any inconvenience to those not directly involved in the serving of a police warrant.
