After a series of meetings, Marianna City Manager Harold Emrich was fired.
The mayor, along with two other councilmen, stood by their guns and voted to boot the city manager. The city manager left without comment.
During the meeting, the mayor and the council were careful not to talk about specifics but said that there is a very serious problem that had to be addressed.
Emrich did not choose to make any final comments and left his fate in the hands of the council.
The meeting was requested last Monday by several commissioners, who wanted to hold a public hearing to see if Emrich's termination was warranted.
The search for a new manager has begun.
Meanwhile, City Clerk Daniel Pippen will act as Marianna's city manager.
