DESTIN, Fla. (AP) - "Silver Bells" has become "missing bells" for one Florida Panhandle musician.
Danny Lyons' set of 37 handbells was stolen from his sport utility vehicle earlier this week, after he performed for inmates at a federal prison camp.
Lyons bought the bells for about $8,000. He's known worldwide for his performances, in which he plays the individual bells by picking them up and shaking them.
Lyons worries that if his bells aren't recovered, he'll have to borrow bells to perform scheduled holiday concerts.
He says handbells can only be purchased from two companies in the U.S., and the custom-made instruments can take six months to be delivered.
