A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed three months after a Covington County man was shot to death during a confrontation with deputies.
Covington County Sheriff's Captain Walter Ibanett, Deputy Chris Ibanett and the City of Florala are named as defendants.
Forty-seven-year-old Aron Shaw was killed near Lockhart in October 2004.
Evidence gathered by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation could go before a Covington County grand jury next month.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Montgomery by Shaw’s sister. She wants 40 million dollars in punitive damages.
