Two people are recovering from injuries after a car crashed into a Dothan business.
Right after 10AM Friday morning, customers and nearby employees were shocked to see a car sticking out of the Dollar General store, leaving the driver shaken up and two people injured. One of those was sent to the hospital.
Shattered glass and brick were among the pieces being picked up after a car ran into the Dollar General store, located on Montgomery Highway early Friday morning.
Authorities say Bernadette Berry, who is in her 70’s was trying to park her car and believe she hit the accelerator instead of the brake, going over the curb and crashing through the wall.
Berry was not injured; however, two people received minor injuries. One was treated on the scene, and the other was sent to the medical center.
Captain Adrian Thomas with the Dothan Fire Department said, "There's one inside the building; the pedestrian inside was transported to the hospital. She apparently was in her 30’s; just minor injuries."
Authorities say they believe the woman who was taken to the hospital has been treated and released.
Gennie Slaughter says she is just thankful no one was critically injured and says it could have been much worse. “We're just glad everybody's ok and there was no more damage than what there was."
Sergeant Tim Ward says there will be no charges against Berry because the store is on private property and it’s up to the owners if they want to press charges.
The store has reopened and Dollar General management says it shouldn't take long to repair the damages.
