One of two infant twins from north Alabama who had been awaiting heart transplants in Nashville has received a donor organ.
Abigail Patrick of Huntsville underwent four hours of surgery Tuesday at Vanderbilt University's children's hospital.
Her sister, Shea, also must have a donor heart to survive.
Doctors say the four-month-olds both suffer from cardiomyopathy, which weakens and enlarges the heart.
The hospital says Abigail is in the critical care unit and is in stable condition today.
Lisa Patrick says Abigail looks good, despite the tubes running into her small body.
The heart was donated by the family of a two-and-a-half-month-old boy.
Patrick says she would like to meet the family some day and knows that couple is heartbroken.
Officials have declined to release more information about the donor family other than to say they do not live in Tennessee or Alabama.
