Changes are being made in the organizational structure for State Troopers and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
Public Safety director, Colonel Mike Coppage, said the reorganization will improve efficiency and result in a better command structure.
Among the changes, the Highway Patrol will increase the number of troop headquarters from six to seven. The Dothan post will be designated as Troop F and comprises Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston and Pike counties. Dothan was previously part of the Montgomery post.
Coppage said the ABI will be realigned from six to five geographical areas around the state. He said no offices will be closed and police services will not be interrupted.
The changes go into effect Dec. 11.
