OZARK, Ala. (AP) - A Dale County jury convicted an inmate of attempted murder in connection with a May riot in the county Jail that left two corrections officers and an inmate injured.
Jurors returned the guilty verdict Wednesday against 24-year-old Katoni Tellis. He was also convicted of assault, escape and criminal mischief.
The uprising occurred on the night of May 11th and lasted for about one hour. The fracas resulted in broken windows and damaged cells.
Tellis had been sentenced to 30 years in prison for an armed robbery, the day before the riot.
Tellis, who was transferred to a state prison, will be sentenced at a later date.
