TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A Talladega County jury acquitted a Florida Panhandle man charged with fondling and sodomizing a teenage boy at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in 2006.
51-year-old Jerry Cash was acquitted Tuesday. He testified he had been a friend of the boy's family for several years and taught his Sunday school class.
He was also a chaperone on the church outing to Shocco Springs, and slept in the same room with the boy, but denied any sexual abuse.
Cash who retired to Panama City after 24 years in the U.S. Air Force was accused of the sexual contact in September 2006, more than three months after the alleged incidents occurred on two nights during the church outing.
