Wal-Mart is recalling 600 thousand GE Oval and Double Dish Slow Cooker units. The Arkansas-based retailer announced that it was taking back the Hamilton Beach and Proctor-Silex product because the base of the slow cooker can break possibly causing hot food to spill over and burning customers.
The companies said that they have received 531 complaints about the cookers with reports of handles breaking, including four reports of consumers who were burned by hot food.
The cookers were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from August 2000 through December 2002 for between 25 and 35 dollars.
