The Internal Revenue Service is looking for a few taxpayers, no it is not for overdue taxes, the agency says it has nearly $767,000 in tax refund checks that could not be delivered to about 1,096 Alabamians.
IRS spokesman Dan Boone in Birmingham said a taxpayer can go online to a Web site entitled "Where's My Refund?" on IRS.gov The site allows individuals to enter information and learn the status of their refund in 2004.
Boone also suggests taxpayers can avoid undelivered checks if they take advantage of direct deposit to guard against theft or lost refund checks.
