Marianna Courthouse

Northwest Florida is in line for a new federal courthouse. Both Panama City and Marianna are in the running for the building.

This week, the Jackson County Commission joined forces with the Marianna City Council to offer 2.5 acres of "free" real estate to the federal government.

The downtown Marianna property includes the old Jackson County Jail.

With access to Interstate 10, Jackson County Administrator Wendell Taylor said it makes more sense to have the Federal Courthouse in Jackson County.

At this time, the Panama City Commission hasn't made a land proposal to keep the Federal Courthouse in Bay County.
