Nobel Peace Prize

President Bush has telephoned former President Jimmy Carter to congratulate him on winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

Press Secretary Ari Fleischer reports Bush placed the call around 7 a.m., soon after the Nobel Committee in Oslo made its announcement.

Fleischer called it a "friendly conversation" lasting a couple of minutes.

The committee honored Carter for his "untiring effort" to find peaceful solutions to world conflicts.
