As a part of Houston County’s capital improvement program, you'll see deputies in new cars.
Monday the Houston County Commission awarded Sheriff Glover and his deputies’ eight new Mercury patrol cars.
The commission budgeted $125,000 seven cars, but added another $4,000 so the sheriff could get an eighth car. If the patrol cars aren't rotated every five years, they will become run down and unusable.
Commissioner Culver says the money is being well spent. Deputies will receive their new cars at the beginning of the New Year.
