Fewer Alabama residents are getting married.
There are also fewer married couples getting divorced. That's according to statistics for 2003 from the Alabama Center for Health Statistics.
Both state and national statistics show people are putting off getting married until their late 20s.
Experts say divorces are down partly because fewer people are getting married. Also, experts say older couples with established jobs are less likely to face money problems - a major cause of marriages splitting up.
The state's highest marriage rate was 24 point four percent in Russell County in east Alabama.
