Texas school kids will no longer find same-sex marriage to be a possibility, as far as some of their textbooks are concerned.
The Texas Board of Education is approving new textbooks for health classes for high school and middle school students after publishers changed the wording in the books to reflect that marriage is between a man and a woman.
Some board members had objected to old language that referred to "individuals who marry," rather than to husbands and wives.
But one board member complained the changes are part of a political agenda, and that it's not something that the board should be involved in.
The new terminology in the books could affect dozens of other states where the same textbooks are marketed.
