Grand Jury Indicts Cottonwood Man for Murder

A Houston County grand jury has handed down a murder indictment in connection with a deadly shooting in Cottonwood earlier this year.

A woman was gunned down at a home on Iris Road in August.

Thirty-six-year-old Christine Chumney, who investigators say did not live at the home, was shot during what appeared to be a domestic dispute.

Forty-two-year old James Allen Chumney, her estranged husband, was arrested and charged with murder and he's been indicted for the crime.

Chumney is being held without bond in the Houston County Jail while he waits to stand trial.
