Seminole County Farmers

It should be a time when Tri-State growers are reaping the benefits of summer's hard work in the fields.

But some Seminole County farmers say Tropical Storm Hannah may have destroyed this year's crop.

The county's extension agent said cotton and peanut crops were hit the hardest.

Many peanut farmers trying to bring in their crops this week are finding contaminated peanuts and peanuts that have broken off in the ground.

Cotton farmers are seeing crop rot, and buds falling off the plants because of too much water.

County Agent Rome Ethridge said it's a big loss. Ethridge said it will be another week before they know the full extent of area crop damage.
