Stopping Telemarketers

Officials in Florida agree, when people say they don't want telemarketers calling them, that's exactly what they mean.

The state of Florida is going to remind companies by going after them in court.

State Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles Bronson is suing nine Florida companies.

For a list of the companies, go to the department's Web site at www.doacs.state.fl.us and click on Consumer Issues. The companies evidently called a state list of people who don't want to be bothered by telemarketers.

The lawsuits are seeking civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation.
