The Troy Police Department is trying to reduce the number of automobile crashes involving teenage drivers.
Police Chief Anthony Everage says that effort will include enforcement and the introduction of a new advanced driver education program for teenagers.
Chief Everage says his department is working with the National Traffic Safety Academy to establish the collision avoidance training program in troy.
Collision avoidance training is an advanced defensive driving and vehicle control program for teen drivers.
The 2-day program is designed to help young drivers understand the complex task of operating a vehicle and develop skills that will prepare them to anticipate and handle hazards that occur under normal driving conditions.
A similar program is also being developed in Dothan.
