Mark Hacking says he's innocent of killing his wife and dumping her body in a Utah landfill.
A judge in Salt Lake City has set Hacking's trial for next April.
Prosecutors say he killed Lori Hacking in July after she learned her husband had been lying about enrolling in a North Carolina medical school.
Hacking's parents attended today's hearing and left without commenting. His brother says, "It's going to be painful," testifying in the trial.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
