Updated: Mon 2:46 PM, Sep 23, 2002

A trial date has been set for a Dothan teen charged with capital murder.

James Bonds was just 16 years old when Norman Manning was shot to death during a robbery in September of 1999.

Bonds was arrested a week later on a drug charge and bailed out of jail.

It was nearly a year before investigators gathered enough evidence to charge him and another suspect with the Manning murder.

Jury selection in the case is scheduled to begin Oct. 7.

Bonds will stand trial as an adult and he could get the death penalty if he's convicted.
