Sesame Seeds Recall

A Florida company is recalling Astor Sesame Seeds and Fischer's Greens Seasonings, sold through much of the South, because the products may be contaminated with the dangerous food poisoning salmonella.

About 5,000 pounds of sesame seeds, sold alone and as an ingredient in the greens seasoning, are involved in the recall. The products were sold in Winn-Dixie and SaveRite Grocery Warehouse stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Recalled are one- and two-ounce containers of Astor Sesame Seeds, and 29-ounce containers of Fischer's Greens Seasonings. The products bear sell-by dates ranging from 2/27/04 through 5/15/04.

Consumers should not eat the seasonings but return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
