A teenager accused in the rape of a child will soon stand trial as an adult.
Thomas Deering was just 16 when he was arrested last Summer.
But, a Houston County Grand Jury indicted him as an adult for first degree rape.
Prosecutors claim Deering sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl in Ashford.
Deering was in court yesterday (Wednesday) trying to become certified as a youthful offender.
But, Judge Lawson Little denied the motion and set the case for trial next month.
Deering is being held in the Houston County Jail under a $200,000 bond.
