The Dothan Police Department that has been under investigation for almost a year for several accusations, racism being one of them.
It all started when Captain Jim Smith resigned from the force.
Smith later said he was forced to quit, and the Dothan Personnel Board began its investigation on his behalf.
During that probe, other allegations against police administrators, including racism, came to light. But lawsuits and counter-suits have slowed the process.
A court found the board was overstepping its boundaries during the investigation, and now an appeal is pending.
As one of his first acts of duty last month, City Manager Mike West began his own research to get to the bottom of these allegations.
