The Houston County Jail had some unexpected visitors over the weekend.
Scabies (pronounced as skay-bees) invaded the cells, clothes, and skin of some inmates and personnel.
Houston County authorities received complaints from inmates about abnormal itching.
Turns out it was from an infectious mite that buries itself into the skin.
An infected family member visiting an inmate unknowingly transferred the contagious mites, through gifts which were spread to other inmates.
