MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A 52-year-old Enterprise man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for possessing child pornography.
U.S. Attorney's Office in Montgomery said Gregory James Shiver received the sentence after a judge found that he used his computer to possess more than 150 images of child pornography.
Some of the images allegedly depicted acts of sexual violence toward young children.
Canary said in a statement that the case against Shiver began in late December 2004 when police in Dothan and Enterprise were notified that Shiver had allegedly molested a five-year-old girl.
FBI agents executing a search warrant seized Shiver's computer, where images of suspected child pornography were found on the hard
Shiver will serve his federal prison sentence concurrently with a state sentence for sexual abuse of a minor. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release. He will also be on federal probation for the rest of his life.
