Body Found in Area where Alabama senator's grandson disappeared
VILLA RICA, Ga. (AP) - An Alabama state senator says the body of his teenage grandson has been found about 1,000 feet from where his vehicle was located last week along Interstate 20 in neighboring Georgia.
State Senator Jim Preuitt says Alabama state trooper officials have notified him that the body found yesterday was that of his 17-year-old grandson, Benjamin Stanford.
Prueuitt says his grandson was "the apple of my eye."
The teen was reported missing last week. Police later found his 2007 silver Jeep Grand Cherokee some 75 miles away near Villa Rica, Georgia.
Preuitt, a Democrat from Talladega, says he does not know any details about his grandson's death.
