Supplementing Water Needs

Commissioners are looking at forming a partnership with the Choctahatchee, Pea and Yellow River Watershed Management Authority and other government agencies to build a reservoir.

Studies show local groundwater supplies have been dropping for years, but a man-made lake would help.

So far, the project is in the early planning stages and Commission Chairman Mark Culver said right now Houston County is not being asked to spend money.

Houston County commissioners will vote Monday on the partnership agreement for the proposed reservoir.
